Sibylle Krieger-Weber, R&D Manager for WineBacteria at LallemandOenology, is one of the invited experts of the Online Events series organized by the OFVC, which starts today.
Sibylle’s presentation will be held on February 19th, from 12:30 pm - 1 pm (Eastern Time) and she will be talking about the wine bacteria Lactobacillus plantarum, A New Tool to Control Malolactic Fermentation (MLF).
Oenococcus oeni represents most of commercial wine bacteria. As a result of globalwarming more often Lactobacillus species are reported to predominate and be responsible for spontaneous MLF. A recent isolate of L. Plantarum has shown interesting results, not only for its capacity to induce MLF after direct inoculation, but also for its positive contribution to the wine global quality.
Moreover, Sibylle will presents ML PRIME: a new concept of Lactobacillus plantarum with high activity, specific for co-inoculation practice, able to perform a very fast MLF both in red and white wines without any risk of volatile acidity increase.
